Its performance and versatility go beyond anything we've seen before ? truly a go-anywhere, play-anything portable. The DVD-LX9 includes some unique and useful accessories: a well-connected docking station with an integral AC adapter/charger, and a pair of matching outboard speakers (in addition to the built-in speakers).
The entire system fits neatly in the supplied custom case. When you're in a hotel room or vacation cabin, you can set up the external speakers for bigger, more full-bodied sound than the tiny built-in speakers can deliver.
The DVD-LX9 plays DVD movies ? the ones from the video store plus discs you record with a Panasonic DVD recorder! The built-in 9" widescreen LCD (one of the biggest and sharpest available on a portable player) lets you fully enjoy "letterbox" or standard films. The screen has a sliding hinge design that lets you angle it or fold it flat facing up ? very cool!
You can expect to get about 2-1/2 hours of unplugged playing time using the rechargeable battery pack. You can listen through the built-in stereo speakers, or plug in a pair of headphones for totally involving, private listening.
Speaking of listening, Panasonic designed this portable to play a wide variety of music discs: CDs, audio CD-Rs and CD-RWs, plus hi-res DVD-Audio music discs. Fans of downloaded music will appreciate the DVD-LX9's ability to play MP3 and WMA files burned to CD.
The DVD-LX9 is also the first portable that really makes sense for at-home use, too. The docking station's back panel accommodates a wider assortment of A/V connections than typical portables, including component video output. To avoid the hassle of constant disconnecting and re-connecting, leave the docking station connected to your A/V system all the time.
