Strengths: Comfortable, Great Range, Long Battery Life.
Weaknesses: Mouse control doesn't work well on Macs.
Summary: I joined an MBA program last year, and have had to many presentations during that time. So, when I saw this presenter on sale recently, I thought it may be a good idea to give it a shot - and I am glad I did!

This presenter is very easy and comfortable to use. The mouse pointer control is a nice feature, even though I don't think I'll be using it too often. This presenter works well with PowerPoint on Macs & Windows, and with KeyNote on Macs.

Strengths: Very easy installation. Worked in minutes, maybe seconds. Works at any distance and orientation within my classroom of 25x35 feet. Good price compared to options I've found.
Weaknesses: Does feel a little insubstantial (lightweight). LCD laser pointer seems weak and small.
Summary: 2004-08-18 05:57:12 I'm very impressed so far. Everything works as advertised. Installation was seemless and immediate on XP. PC told me the device was recognized and then installed driver within a minute. Name brand batteries included. Works just as well with USB extenstion (1.5 feet long or so) as without. Pointer control and button control work smoothly and better than IR remote I have used in the past. Works behind my back in any orientation within my classroom. Even tried to block/shield it with a PC case and it still works. Even went outside on patio and works through windows and exterio wall but drops out at about 50-60 ft. I am using with an LCD projector and a smart white board with well known and most popular presentation software for 8th grade Earth Science and 11th Grade Physics so I do not physically have to be tied by board to go to next page, manipulate on screen controls, etc. I really missed the ability to move freely about room which is very useful for classroom behavior observation and student/teacher interaction. Already tested presentation software with my old files and works perfectly. Buttons on remote already set up and intuitive to use with software. Had to program buttons on IR remote which used a receiver on the serial port and was difficult to install and inconvenient to use. Very happy now.

Strengths: The cost is reasonable
Weaknesses: Flimsy fit and feel
Summary: Unit may or may not have been defective, but would not work in any of two laptops and one desktop computer I tried it in. Remote has an overall flimsy look and feel. It was promptly returned for a refund. Try the keyspan remote- it's a bit more expensive, but worked right out of the box.

Strengths: Decent battery life, complete mouse control, range, plug-n-play
Weaknesses: May die out, USB connector a bit large
Summary: I basically use this as a remote control for my PC. I use it with Apple iTunes to change the track (esp. helpful when using an Airport Express to stream to a stereo.) Also used for web browsing from afar (true, no keyboard) when my laptop is hooked up to a TV or projector.

It operates on 900MHz so it has good distance. I would say I usually get about 25 feet / 8 meters. Absolutely excellent, better than Logitech cordless products, but after all, they have a different use.

Laser pointer is handy. When giving an occasional photo slide show or powerpoint (that's what this device is actually made for), it works great to advance or go back. Note the 'option' button on the controller, which changes the emulation of the buttons underneath the "paddle" to either the left/right mouse buttons or Page Up/Down (for presentations).

The other day, I had a weird instance with the device. The laser pointer stopped working and no signal was being sent to the PC. Initial battery replacement didn't work. Waited a few hours, and later put new batteries back in -- worked fine. Can't explain this -- it's only happened once. Also note that my battery tester said that the batter still had medium-full power left on the old batteries, but I replaced with new anyways -- these were the original installed batteries.

Overall, still highly recommended over higher priced alternatives.

Strengths: Plug n Play installation, works well with PowerPoint, very inexpensive
Weaknesses: Handheld pointer relatively large
Summary: The Targus Wireless Remote Presenter provides a quick, easy alterative to standing in front of your laptop and doing a presentation. Upon initial research, I found very few devices with preformed this simple basic function. However, a few other options exist - but with a much higher price tag. I was able to obtain the Targus Wireless Remote Presenter for $37.00 including shipping.

3 Star ReviewEasy to setup; took only a minute or two on Window ...
Strengths: Compact, laser pointer, batteries and storage pouch included.
Weaknesses: Difficult to get used to mouse control. Trackball would be better.
Summary: Easy to setup; took only a minute or two on Windows XP. Remote receiver unit plugs in, installs the necessary driver and away you go. The only thing is that the unit is relatively expensive for what you get. It just doesn't strike me as being worth the cost, but then again, it's not like I'm pricing different kinds of USB remote controllers for computers, so maybe it is a good price!

Strengths: It is cheap and easy to use.
Weaknesses: Light of laser pointer is weak.
Summary: 2005-02-16 23:39:12 Overall, it is an OK product. Its per dollar value is high compared with other similar items on the market. Of course, there are better products than this one, but the price is also better. For presentation in class room, this product does the job.

Strengths: Easy setup. Buttons easy to find without looking. Gotten ranges of about 100ft when there is no interference.
Weaknesses: A bit bulky, both presenter and usb. No on/off switch so you can't put it in your pocket while waiting to present.
Summary: I have had very good success with this presenter. I tried Targus' next model up, the AMP02US, and had nothing but grief. Finally, after seeing some many people using this one, and having to borrow theirs since the AMP02US wasn't working, I switched. Liked the on/off functionality of the AMP02US, but if you can't get it to connect ....

Strengths: Works good with Power Point and the laser pointer power is good if you have new battery inside
Weaknesses: Very slow if you would like to use as a mouse. Some time changing from mouse to presenter mode could be confusing.
Summary: I am using this product for a month so far no complaint and worth the money (`$30-35) you pay. The wireless range could be limiting to someone who walks through the audiance while presenting. Advantage is that you really dont have to face the computer to use the presenter. Good to have a rechargable battery as the laser pointer drains the batter power. Definetly worth as a presenter but not good as a mouse.

Strengths: small - cheap (at $10 for me anyway) - reliable - doubles up as conventional mouse and slide presenter
Weaknesses: The on/off button is incredibly tiny so if you're inclined to stubby fingernails, forget it.
Summary: The mouse I had before was Logitech's popular blue optical wheel mouse. Targus's mini optical wireless mouse is great for laptop users but it isn't the smoothest mouse in the world. It's smooth normally but if you leave it alone for a few minutes and pick it up again it has to adjust and gets jerky but goes smooth again. If you find it for less than $ I'd get it.
