Strengths: We're a wireless ISP and we use these boxes for our customers CPE devices. They work well most of the time.
Weaknesses: My opinion - Linksys / Cisco Quality control is really poor. We get approx 15-20 percent doa out of the box. Most of the time they won't link the lan port when we have this problem.
Summary: 2004-05-11 20:54:25 I feel that this is a good product, but there is alot of room for improvement. Cisco / Linksys should listen to their customer regarding these problems. Sometimes a unit will work beautiful and then a customer will call with a problem and we find out that the WET11 just defaulted for no reason. Cisco / Linksys said that we're not using the product as intended so they will not work on our problem issues. I think that is a cop out, they should listen to us - After all we buy over 100 of these a month. Overall, box is avg. They work very well when we get a good one and we will continue to keep buying them. On another note, Version 1 worked far better than the B version. Cisco / Linksys said B version had a Lan chip manufacture change. We really started to see the problems crop up when they started shipping the B version. I only hope that Linksys / Cisco addresses these lan port problems, if they did they would have a AAA+ rock solid product and our support headaches would vanish.

Strengths: Great Concept and Price, Easy Setup
Weaknesses: Unrealiable, Poor Support
Summary: I always thought these were the greatest little devices. I've owned several over the years, and used them frequently when travelling for work, as the devices I was networking were rarely computers. I recently began using these as a permanent fixture in several branch offices, as the digital copiers started becoming more prevalent. Big mistake. I've found that using these for any length of time without unplugging and reconnecting the power is impossible. Sometimes I'll get an hour out of one, and sometimes I get two- not a great solution at all.

And to compound the problem, Linksys has farmed out the telephone support to the "English as a second language" crowd, who refuse to leave the confines of their little support script. Each time I call, I need to walk through the entire setup process with them, wasting a good half hour, when I am able to tell them it works flawlessly for a short period of time, but needs power cycling frequently.

The first call ends in "update the firmware"

The second call ends in "return it to us for replacement"

After returning the first batch of 10, and suffering with the remaining 20, I received another set of 10, all displaying the same problems. Not that I really expected anything different. I'll just keep sending them 10 at a time until they decide its time to fix the problem. Oh, and if you're reading this linksys- I'm writing down the MAC ID's, so don't think you can keep rotating the same product through to me.

It's time for linksys to buck up and provide some form of tier 2 support, by knowledgable staff working without scripts. It's "proud to be an American" time, people, why not hire a few?

Strengths: If you can get past the configuration glitches, and when it locks onto an accesspoint that is close by, the quality is amazing for a wireless device.
Weaknesses: Poor software - the suggested firmware update method just does not work. - Installation software did not detect my network. - Pricey - should sell for at least 20 bux lesser IMHO.
Summary: The best way to test such wireless devices is to do voice over IP over wireless. This is exactly what I did - I had purchased this for connecting my vonage box and phone as I did not want to run an ethernet cable from my accesspoint to the vonage box.

To start off with, the configuration is a real pain. As with everything I attempted to upgrade the software and firmware soon as I got the WET11. Though there is a firmware upgrade available, the upgrade utility could not detect the WET11. Also, the configuration wizard was not helpful as it would not detect the network and I had to go into the settings and manually set it up.

Initially I did not have an accesspoint at home and was trying to use a neighbors AP until my Internet access arrived. This was the difficult part. With about 60% signal, the WET11 was not really doing a good job. Voice quality was poor and it lost connectivity frequently, even with a statically configured IP address.

When I did get my own AP and broadband access, the WET11 showed a signal strength of 90% and I was able to get excellent voice quality even with 128-bit WEP turned on. In fact I was on an international call thru the vonage network for well over an hour with no sign that it was a VoIP over wireless call. Voice quality was even better than a traditional land-line local voice call. It was almost like the person was in the next room. Note that my accesspoint is a WRT54G also from Linksys.

So, if you intend placing the WET11 close to your accesspoint - say in the same living room, and can wade thru the configuration with patience, and do not mind the steep $50+ cost, it is probably a good buy.

I have given a higher star rating despite the flaws because of the excellent quality when performing in the right conditions.

Strengths: strong signal, easy to set up, good general and security features, configurable through web browser.
Weaknesses: none found so far.
Summary: i bought the WET11 primarily for my xbox and am very pleased with it thus far. setup was quick and easy, the signal strength is good, and the web browser configuration capability is very handy. the unit has a cross-over switch to accomodate connections though a patch or cross-over cable, or through a hub. i have mine hooked up to a hub so that it can be connected to both my xbox and a laptop pc simultaneously. the web interface also has a signal stength indicator on it which helps when deciding where and how to position the unit in your room.

Strengths: So simple to set up.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: 2004-01-03 09:13:09 If you want to get your X-Box to play live games, get this unit. Beats the heck out of the Microsoft MN-740. I've had both and returned the MS product.

The WET11 has run flawlessy for over 1 year, that's why I'm buying another one. I have no need for wireless "G" and even if I did I would go with Linksys products. I got my second WET11 today and it is as I expected, works perfect.

Strengths: easy to connect; instructions good
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: This product has a good transfer rate. The bonus to using this product is that there is no hassle of cable wires. I used this product to move my VoIP phone to any location in my house , so that call could be private, when necessary. Also, I knew the security level was good.

Strengths: Easy to set up. Price.
Weaknesses: None yet.
Summary: Wanted a device that could make our Playstation wireless and that I could also use for something different once kids move out. I'm not real computer savvy and this product is great for that. If you can read, then set-up is a breeze. You just put in a cd and follow the instructions. It pretty much did everything automatic. So far, no complaints from kids about lag time or games being dropped. I think I found the product I was looking for and would recommend it to anyone. Also saved $30 vs. going to my local Best Buy.

Strengths: Relatively easy setup. I'm new to wireless networking so terminology is still a little confusing.
Weaknesses: None apparent.
Summary: I used the Linksys WET11 Wireless Bridge to connect my Replay TV Digital Video Recorder to the Internet for downloading program information. I can also use it to transfer pictures from my computer to the Replay DVR to view them in a slide show format. While Replay TV has a USB port on the back, it is not active. The ethernet connection made possible by the Linksys WET11 Wireless Bridge was a good alternative. I saved money by using a 10% off coupon good on any item at Buy.com.

Strengths: Set up was a breeze.
Weaknesses: No more information about WET11 signal strength.
Summary: Used the WET11 bridge in setting up my home network last weekend and so far so good!! It's completely driver-free, so it works on any platform and with any operating system.just plug it into your device and configure the network settings through your Web browser.

The WET11 has a much more powerful antenna than the WUSB11, and so far, has been 100% reliable. I have not gotten dropped a single time.

Strengths: Very easy to set up... Took about 5 minutes and it was ready to use.
Weaknesses: Came with a 2' Ethernet cable that would not reach my ethernet port unless I set it on the floor under my desk.
Summary: After trying to set up my Xbox to the internet unsucessfully, I was able to do so very easily with this product. It has very good intructions that go with the installation disk so you get a detailed discription of each step.

Strengths: Installs easily, works fine!
Weaknesses: Signal interferes with 2.4GHz phone system. My Linksys wireless router (BEFW11S4) doesn't affect the phone at all but the WET11 produces a lot of interference. It must have a stronger signal.
Summary: The WET11 came up easily and has run continuously for three months without being rebooted. Unfortunately, it interferes with my Panasonic cordless phone system (KX-TG2740) - not so bad that I can't use the phone, just an irritation. I have tried reconfiguring to each of the different channels and it doesn't seem to make any difference. All of the channels produce interference. The router, on the other hand, doesn't affect the phone at all.

Strengths: Easy setup for my PS2 once I got past my security settings. The bridge defaults to KEY 1 during setup and I was using KEY 4.
Weaknesses: None. It has a small footprint
Summary: I had been having a hard time dealing with running cables through and across rooms. I purchased this unit to help get rid of cables and thankfully it worked without a hitch. I was up and running within minutes of getting it out of the box.

I haven't noticed any lag with my online gaming at all. Linksys has done it again.

Strengths: Antenna Strength, Versatility, Firmware, Size, Removable Antenna, Quality.
Weaknesses: Price. Dang things are always more expensive than a bridgable Access Point. :-\
Summary: Linksys makes a solid Bridge. I've been using this product for many years now. This is the 3rd bridge I've owned, and it seems to perform flawlessly. Their small form factor makes mounting them in NEMA boxes a snap. They are also compatible with many POE units. I highly recommend Linksys' POE (Power Over Ethernet) device. They work together great. :-)

Strengths: It was simple to configure because I researched several Macintosh reviews before I purchased the WET11
Weaknesses: Linksys needs to provide Macintosh setup CDs and documentation for this bridge.
Summary: Fortunately, I read several reviews on various sites and was able to configure the WET11 for my MAC in just a few minutes. I think having a Linksys wireless modem made the job easier. The Linksys modem was operating with a wireless adapter on my PC and hard wired to my MAC. I configured the WET11 while connected to a Linksys modem port. I then hooked it up to the ethernet port of my MAC and was on the WEB right away. I rated this unit a 4 star because of the lack of Macintosh information. I give it a 5 star rating for how well it works for me.

Strengths: not too much more expensive than the wga11b, and actually works.
Weaknesses: none
Summary: linksys in my opinion has always been worth the extra buck for their product, i've always been able to solve any problems i've had with their products. i recently replaced a d-link di-624 for a wireless g with speedbooster. it was totally worth it. for some unknown reason my connection would 'time out' on me after no internet activity for about 5 or more minutes. and the only way to get my connection to work again was to un-plug the power from the d-link router and insert it again. LAME!!!! but the linksys model is flawless, and i'm using the bridge to play my xbox online, HALO 2 BABY!!! anyway, i know a lot of people read reviews (i know i do), and for the gamers out there, this product has been tested and garaunteed to work wirelessly for online gaming for xbox users (and i would assume the same goes for ps2 or gamecube users as well).
