Strengths: This is the High Definition projection Tv that all other DLP TVs will be compared to.
Weaknesses: NONE
Summary: The color, contrast, brightness and sharpness is great right out of the box with the Samsung HL-P5685w. It is most obvious when viewing an HD channel such as Dish Network's Discovery HD Theater.

I have compared the Mitsubishi 525 and found the glare on the Mitsubishi screen disturbing.

This set is a keeper.

Strengths: When viewing this tv straight on you will be amazed. No other tv is as clear, sharp, and defined as this one. This DLP technology is much better than any LCD (Sony)or Samsungs other DLPs but..
Weaknesses: ** the viewing angle is small. The picture quality degrades and darkens drastically as you take a viewing position other than directly in front of the tv. * the stand limits furniture options
Summary:

I wish the viewing angle on this one was better because the dtraight on picture is the best, not considering plasmas that sell for 2x the price. If you are going to be the only one watching this using a recliner chair in front of the tv then this is for you. Don't get it for a big room where people will sit and watch from different angles. The best overall picture and viewing angle is the JVC Dila **wow**, next is Samsungs other 50 DLP. (as of Oct 2004, You lose a little quality when ever you go above 50 inches.)

1 Star ReviewDifficult to set up, poor skin tones
Strengths: ice looking piece of furniture
Weaknesses: Difficult to set up, poor skin tones
Summary: This is a nicely designed TV, but I wish they had put as much thought into the QUALITY as they put into the design. I was very disappointed with the skin tones. I just couldn't adjust them so they looked "right". They were too pink and nothing that I found that I could adjust would help. I asked several people and they all agreed that the tones and overall picture were much to pink. I finally returned the TV and bought a Sanyo.

1 Star ReviewNot Good
Strengths: It's HDTV ready and it's the size I wanted. Very modern looking
Weaknesses: Terrible TV
Summary: I bought this TV a week ago and I really regret it. It has not worked right from the first minute I turned it on. The picture is poor quality and the colors do not seem to be good. Others who have seen this TV agree that "something is wrong" with it. Samsung has not been any help. I'm going to take it back this week to see if I can exchange it.

Strengths: When inputting DVI from digital sourse in High Def... You think you are there!
Weaknesses: Narrow angle viewing. Lowend sound in Dolby mode.
Summary: I see so many comments about this TV related to color, and picture quality. I just wanted to comment that this set is best suited for someone with Digital Cable or Sat. with DVI outputs. To push a old-style composite or F-Connector signal into this set is not gonna make you real happy. I also notice that some el-chepo DVD/VCR players will not push a very good signal to the set, or the set's color processor is not good at showing it? Either way, I've found that DVI via digital cable TV and 3-cable outputs for DVD run the best. Even S-video from my VCR does not look all that great. Again, Sometimes the older-style output signals just look better on tube sets. The kids complain about their cartoons from the VCR on this set, but are fine on the tube set. I think the best comment that I can make is that you need to review what type of singals your going to push into this set. I LOVE this set and I am a motion picture movie junkie. I shoot for high-fidelity quiality, and have not seen a better DLP pic yet via DVI or DVD-ProgressiveScan 3cable hookups.

Hope this review helps.
